Avantika is a dance practitioner based in Mumbai where she makes her own work and teaches. She studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and is currently pursuing the Curriculum-in-Motion Certification program offered by Jacobs Pillow, USA for choreographers. She has previously made a full- length work {wonkot} and two short solos, 11048,M81 and Here at the Gati residency and Facets residency respectively. She was commissioned to perform Meandering, a site-specific solo in collaboration with an architect for the opening of ‘When is Space’, an exhibition on Contemporary architecture in Jaipur. In 2017, she began touring to over 11 cities in India with Say, What? a contemporary dance duet choreographed by her. In December 2018 she premiered Look left, Turn right, a site specific intervention that was commissioned by Serendipity Arts Foundation for their festival.


Avantika is the head of the professional foundation program for young adults at ICMD, Mumbai and has been faculty at Future School of Performing Arts, visiting faculty at Terence Lewis Dance Company, SNDA, SEA, The MA Performance Practice Program at Ambedkar University and the Duende School. She also has a Masters degree in English Literature.
